Над поэмой «Демон» Михаил Лермонтов работал десять лет — с 1829 по 1839 год. Главный ее герой — изгнанник, небожитель. Земные пейзажи вызывают в нем чувство презрения, бесконечная жизнь — апатию. Но однажды он видит Тамару, дочь Гудала, и приносит горе в её семью.
